Favorites // September 2016

Happy new year in the Hijri calendar! But before we totally say goodbye to September 2016, here are my top five favorite products (both beauty and skincare) for the month that was! Check them out here:

So many beauty products and skincare to try for the month of September! But I narrowed down my favorites to FIVE. You know how hard to choose from a plethora of cosmetics but I feel that these five products WIN in terms of effectivity and affordability. Every month we’ll be coming up with this list here in the blog and hopefully, you like it and you’ll be inspired to share what your favorites are for the month. If we see something new in your list, we’ll pick them up and we’ll try it for ourselves!

1. Wet N Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio in Walking On Eggshells

If there's one eyeshadow palette you should have, this is it!
If there’s one eyeshadow palette you should have, this is it!

I’m so happy that Wet N Wild is now available in Whites Pharmacy! It’s one of those brands that feel like it’s been in the market forever and I usually get mine from drugstore.com before they became available here in Riyadh. By the way, drugstore.com is closed! Sad. Anyway, I went to the nearest Whites Pharmacy in the workplace and checked out what products they brought to this desert. Thankfully, they have my favorite Megalast lipsticks. They also have the Color Icon Blushes… and Eyeshadows! I picked up the Walking On Eggshells eyeshadow trio palette. These palettes are easy-to-use and easy-to-bring! The palette has three coordinating shades and they even tell you which one is for which part of your lids! Easy breezy! The Eyelid color is to accentuate, the Crease color is to define, and the Browbone is to highlight. If you’re a newbie into creating looks with your eyeshadows, then this is for you. The formula of the powders are great too; I just have a miff on the absence of a really matte shadow but with the price and pigment of this, I don’t want to complain. Walking On Eggshells is composed of creamy neutral browns; perfect for every day use so I got really the best bang for my buck with this. I used it more times I’ve used my Urban Decay shadows this month!

2. Physician’s Formula Youthful Wear Illuminating Face Powder

See those subtle bright specks? That's illuminating yes, yes!
See those subtle bright specks? That’s illuminating yes, yes!

One of our readers recommended the liquid foundation from the Youthful Wear line of Physician’s Formula. I got my PF products from iHerb so when I ordered again this month, I made sure to order the foundation plus a powder that will go with it. I was intrigued by the Youthful Wear Illuminating Face Powder just because I don’t have an illuminating powder in my makeup collection yet. Surprise, surprise, it actually works great! I like it better than the foundation I was anticipating to have. The powder has shimmers on the pan and I thought it will make my face shiny and shimmery (gasp!) but it didn’t! The shimmers were not that obvious and a few swipes of the powder gave my face a soft, natural glow. This is my favorite powder to date. And as a bonus, the packing is gorgeous! Shiny violet? Ahhhh I can’t! Haha! It also comes with a mirror and a brush.

3. Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip in Trap

One of my favorite shades from the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip collection.
One of my favorite shades from the Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip collection.

Colourpop has come a long way since they started a few years back. They have come up with a lot of colors for their Ultra Matte Lip line but I find myself always going back to the color Trap. It’s one of my first ever purchases and now that I have a few (okay, many) Ultra Lips already, it’s still a favorite. It’s only recently that I managed to get a new one because the first one I bought was lost to the travels I did). I rediscovered how much I love this dusty greyed out beige (greige, if you must call it that). I was surprised when this came out like a lilac grey in my lips when it doesn’t look anything “lilac” in the tube. Amazing, haha! I had a struggle using matte liquid lipstick at first becaus ethey were really drying and hard to control once it dries out but I’ve learned my lessons now. I used Trap in one of our prenup photo session and it’s lovely! I’m not parting with this one now. Colourpop now ships to Saudi Arabia directly so you can definitely buy it from their website.

4. Herboristerie Bab Agnaou 100% Argan Oil

100% argan oil from Marrakesh, Morocco
100% argan oil from Marrakesh, Morocco

We were in Morocco during the haj holidays and everyone wanted us to get them argan oil, the liquid gold of this African country. We went home with bottles of it but I ended up with just the small one, haha! I use it in the morning as a lotion. I spray a thin layer of argan oil to my skin and I love how light and moisturizing it is! It has a nutty scent to it but not overwhelming and unlike other oils, it’s not heavy on the skin and it doesn’t even feel oily! The skin absorbs it easily. Now sure though where we can get 100% argan oil here in Riyadh. If you know where, please comment below so I can get my fill!

5. Tony Moly Tomatox Massage Pack

Thick, white facial mask from Korean brand, Tonly Moly.

I’m a face mask hoarder. Whenever I order from iHerb or pass by The Face Shop in the malls, I always get one face sheet mask so that I can try them all. I’m fond of using them during the weekends just to do something for my face that wore a lot of makeup throughout the weekdays. Tony Moly’s Tomatox Massage Pack is one of their bestsellers. It promises to promote brighter and clearer skin with its rich blend of premium ingredients. It banks on its main ingredient of Tomato to make the face brighter and diminish blemish and spots. It also helps detoxify the skin and get rid of impurities. Every time I use this massage pack I immediately see the improvement in my skin. It feels really soft to the touch. This is easy to apply and easy to wash off too. It also comes in a very cute tomato packaging. What is not to love?!? I bought mine from iHerb but you can buy it at around SR 60 from Tony Moly in Al Qasr Mall.
